It is a fully assembled 383 small block Chevy engine built on a stroked 350 block with a roller cam, forged internals, and everything needed to drop it in and run it.     Why the 383 Stroker

    The 383 is one of the most popular small block Chevy combinations ever built. The concept is simple. You take a standard 350 block, install a 400 small block crankshaft with a 3.75 inch stroke, and combine it with connecting rods and pistons matched to the longer stroke. The result is 383 cubic inches instead of 350, more displacement from the same basic architecture, and a meaningful increase in torque across the entire RPM range.

    What the Roller Cam Adds

    The roller cam is what separates this build from a basic stroker assembly. A hydraulic roller camshaft reduces valvetrain friction, allows more aggressive lobe profiles without the wear concerns of a flat tappet cam, and produces a broader, more usable power curve. Combined with the additional displacement of the stroker assembly, the roller cam is what pushes this build to 518 horsepower with real street manners below the power band.

    The street and strip 383 stroker engine is built to work in both environments. It produces strong low and mid range torque for street driving, towing, and daily use. At the same time, it pulls hard to redline for track applications where peak horsepower matters.     Transmission Compatibility

    The 383 uses a standard GM small block bellhousing pattern. It is compatible with the Muncie 4-speed, Tremec TKO and T56, Richmond 6-speed, TH350, TH400, 700R4, 4L60E, and most other common GM manual and automatic transmission options. Confirm flexplate or flywheel spec when you order.

    Engine Mounts

    Standard GM small block engine mount dimensions apply. Aftermarket SBC swap mounts are available from multiple suppliers for nearly every common chassis application.

    Installation Notes

    Fuel System

    The 383 runs best on 91 octane or higher given the compression ratio. If you are running a carburetor setup, a standard mechanical fuel pump or electric pump sized for the application works. For EFI builds, confirm injector sizing and fuel pressure requirements with us before ordering.

    Ignition

    Most builds ship with an HEI distributor ready to run. Timing should be set at initial startup before the first dyno pull on your chassis. Total timing of 34 to 36 degrees is a common starting point for most 383 builds, but confirm with your tuner for your specific compression and cam combination.

    Break-In

    Even with a roller cam, proper break-in matters. Run the engine at varied RPM for the first 30 minutes, change the break-in oil, and verify all fluid levels and fastener torque before putting the car under load. We include break-in instructions with every engine.

    We ship from Cleveland, Ohio to all 50 states. Every complete Chevy 383 V8 crate motor ships fully crated and secured on a freight pallet. Most orders are processed and ready to ship within 3 to 5 business days after confirmation and payment. You receive a tracking number once the engine leaves our facility.

    Warranty

    Every engine we sell comes with a 6-month warranty against internal mechanical defects. The dyno sheet and build spec documentation ship with the engine. If a covered mechanical failure occurs within the warranty period, contact us. We work toward a fair resolution, whether a replacement, credit, or repair guidance depending on the situation.
